If you are looking to hire a contractor or temp into your team then you’ve come to right place!
This microsite will give you all the information you need to know about hiring a contractor into your team and, alongside your Hays Recruitment Partner, will provide insights around market rates for your role, take you through the hiring process and give you tips and tricks to managing your contractor after they start with you.
Before we get started with the hiring journey let’s take a look at the 4 principles you need to know before hiring a contractor into Virgin Media.
IR35 / No PSC’s
IR35 / No PSC’s
In preparation for the government’s IR35 reforms Virgin Media’s IR35 Policy, effective from Monday 6 April 2020, mandates that we’ll no longer be engaging with contractors who work through Personal Service Companies (PSCs).
Instead, Virgin Media will only engage on contracts with those who operate either through a payroll (PAYE) or an umbrella company.
Tenure
Tenure
Typically contractors are hired for 6 months or less to support on a specific project. If your contractor need extends beyond 6 months, have you considered alternatives to hire – FTC / Perm – to ensure the most cost effective resourcing method? No contractors should be extended beyond a 2 year maximum.
Suppliers
Suppliers
Did you know there are over 40,000 recruitment agencies in the UK and growing. Virgin Media have Preferred Supplier Agreements in place with those agencies we want to do business with and who have signed to our Terms and Conditions.
We review the Preferred Supplier List every 6 months so if there is a supplying agency you think Virgin Media should be working with then talk to us for next steps. Please do not engage with any supplying agency outside of the PSL.
Rates
Rates
Virgin Media work to a contractor rate card that offers the fair market rate for the role your contractor is being hired to do. This Rate Card is reviewed every 6 months to ensure we are aligned to current market conditions and rates.
The Contingent Recruitment Team will be able to advise you on the fair market rate for your role before you start your hiring.
Please do not negotiate or offer rates to contractors yourself.
